This test was designed to give a complete picture of the child’s sensory processing difficulties in several different school environments and at home.  The test for example will highlight why a child developing well in a highly structured classroom could have problems in a more relaxed setting.

All major areas of sensory processing and social participation as covered as well as the sensory and motor domains of vision, hearing, taste and smell, touch, balance and body position sense.

Areas covered in school assessment:  main classroom; art class; music class; physical education; playground and cafeteria and the school bus.

Standard scores are given in the following subscales:  Social Participation; Vision; Hearing ; Touch

Body Awareness (proprioception) ; Balance and Motion (vestibular function) ; Planning and Ideas (praxis)

Total Sensory Systems.

Evaluates sensory processing from Age 3 – 10 Years.  125 questions are completed by the caregiver on how frequently the child responds to various sensory experiences.  Items grouped into following sections:  sensory processing, modulation, behavioural and emotional responses.  There is a short 38 item for use in screening and research protocols.
